Michael was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. From an early age, he had an interest in the performing arts. Originally pursuing a career in acting, Michael was cast in both regional and national commercials, as well as a featured part in an episode of Midnight Caller, starring Gary Cole.
His big break came at the age of nineteen when he was cast in the lead role for the pilot episode of "Story Behind the Story", created by Cosgrove/Meurer Productions. He stayed in touch with one of the producers and in 1991 he moved to Los Angeles where he was hired by the company to work as a Production Assistant on their hit television series Unsolved Mysteries, starring Robert Stack. Realizing his talents were best suited behind the camera, Michael moved up quickly within the company performing various duties as Location Manager, 2nd AD, Production Coordinator, and eventually as the Host Producer.
When the show was cancelled in 1997, Michael worked briefly on a Ridley Scott project for Warner Brothers. From there he moved over to Production Partners Inc., a company with a niche for producing HBO Comedy specials.
In 1998, Michael moved to Portland, Oregon; however he continued his work in television by commuting bi-weekly to Los Angeles for the PAX network series, It's a Miracle, starring Richard Thomas.
Michael decided in 2001 to work full time in Portland and pursue his interest of Independent filmmaking. He has been involved with such projects as Behind the Mask, Spiral, Bigger than the Sky, Follow the Profit.
In 2004, Michael created Silver Heart Productions to produce & develop feature films; the first project to be produced under the Silver Heart banner was the debut production of Only for You, written and directed by Donna Persico. The film has recently found distribution and will be released in 2008. Silver Heart's other productions include the festival nominated shorts, White Flag, Echo and Fantasy Unlimited, which won four awards including Best Film for the (2005) 48hour Film Project - Portland.
Michael continues to work freelance as a Line Producer and has recently joined the DGA in the UPM capacity. In addition, he has various projects in development, one of which is Uneasy Listening, written by Pete Vanderwall.
