Amanda Pollack [ resume ]
Amanda Pollack began her editing career in commercials. She assisted on her first feature, Amongst Friends, in 1992. Since then, she has worked with directors Terry Gilliam, Ang Lee, Sidney Pollack, Barry Levinson, Martin Brest and Robert Altman. Amanda edited Wicked City, a music-driven story of a young girl trying to find her way in New York City. She also worked as Associate Editor on Kevin Bacon’s Loverboy as well as the films Uptown Girls, A Shot at Glory and HBO Film’s A Dog Year starring Jeff Bridges. While working on A Shot At Glory, Amanda edited a short trailer for the film, which helped to bring their composer Mark Knopfler on board to score the film. For Loverboy, Amanda also edited a trailer, which was shown at festivals before the film’s completion. On The Devil Wears Prada, directed by David Frankel, Amanda found many of the songs for the film and edited much of the temp score – it was for this reason she that she was given the credit of Additional Music Editor as well as First Assistant Editor on the film.
Amanda was born in New York City and received her Bachelors degree at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She spent five years living in Cambridge, England in the early 1980s and considers England to be her second home, but lives and works in New York City.
