Colleen Davie Janes [ resume ] [ website ]
As fifth child in a family of seven, Colleen’s love of film emerged from necessity. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, she was often found sneaking off to the double features to find solitude from the chaos at home. Wanting everyone to have the same escape she did, she now works to create cinematic diversions — emotional and visual journeys through a fictional world — her idea of a good time.
A graduate of Boston University with a Communications Degree in Film, Colleen has produced and directed four short films and several Off Off Broadway plays, including the The Paradox of Authorship, a festival entry seen at the Harold Clurman Theatre. In 2006, Colleen ventured into the world of commercial directing to great success. She has most recently directed spots for Dimassimo Agency in New York City.
In addition to directing, Colleen has worn many hats in the production world. As UPM, Colleen recently wrapped principal photography on the feature documentary Zhinan: The New Architecture of Iraq, shot on location in Kurdish Iraq. She also Associate Produced the New York feature film, Knots Urbane, now in post-production, and Produced the short film Leaving Ashland in January 2007. Colleen is currently heading up viral projects for Sellulloyd (www.sellulloyd.com) including “Edge”, “Find Your Zen,” and an undercover Extreme Sports series.
She continues to work within commercial and music video production, recently coordinating or assistant directing projects by Hype Williams, M. Night Shyamalan, Sam Bayer, and Jonas Ackerlund.
Colleen’s background also includes corporate graphic work as well as support work at JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse First Boston, and other financial firms in New York.
