Born in Feb. 1977 in Bombay, Aviishek Shovakar aka Avi started his career at the early age of 16. Kodak handpicked him amongst the 300 people that apply from all over the world for the prestigious 6th international cinematography Masterclass held once every two years at Budapest, Hungary. He has been blessed to have the guidance of Academy award winning Vilmos Zigsmond, Lazlo Kovacs, and Canadian Legend Richard Leiterman. He was also inducted directly as a Director of photography in the IATSE and is one of their youngest members. Currently based out of Los Angeles, Avi is busy shooting feature films, commercials, music videos between LA, Vancouver, NYC and Toronto with Asia and Europe thrown in the mix. “ Films are visual poetry and filmmakers are like poets, we paint dreams with light instead of ink” –Aviishek Shovakar
